Chairman: Steve Williams

Steve has excess of 23 years experience in financial markets, predominately as an institutional stockbroker, private equity investor and fund manager.  As an Executive Director of County NatWest (now part of Citigroup) for 11 years, Steve was integral in building County NatWest as a leading institutional stockbroking firm in Australia. Steve headed Equities Sales (Sydney) and Trading, including Risk Management and Compliance roles. Steve successfully founded Saltbush Funds Management as an incubator of boutique Absolute Return and Private Equity Managers.  He has captained Australia in Rugby Union and was a director of the ARU Board.

Executive Director: Peter Rayner

Peter has over 25 years senior management experience in Asset Management (including the alternative asset class of private equity), Accounting and Stock Broking.  He has a demonstrable record of success at successfully building, managing and leading both distribution and investment functions in a funds management business.

Peter’s funds management experience includes: being Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Global Investors Australia Ltd from mid 1998 to December 2005.  In this role, he increased assets under management from less than A$30 million to greater than A$5 billion.  He established group products on distribution platforms and both acquired and merged existing funds management businesses into Allianz.  Prior to this, Peter consulted at Van Eyk Research, was an Executive Director in charge of expanding WorldInvest Management’s business in Australia and was Head of Institutional Business at Perpetual Investments.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting and Finance from Charles Sturt University and is a qualified CPA..

Executive Director: Patrick Allaway

Previous Roles include:

  • Managing Director, SBC Warburg (now UBS) Capital Markets & Treasury.  Responsible for a business unit with 3,000 personnel located in 16 countries and a budget in excess of US$1 billion. Transformed the business from a decentralized organization focused on servicing Swiss clients, returning less than 10% on capital to a leading global functionally run investment bank serving the top 1,000 global corporations and institutional investors and generating a return of 60% on capital. Increased profitability by 300% in four years.  
  • Member of SBC Warburg Global Investment Bank Executive Board.  Played an integral role in the integration of O’Connor Partners and the buy out of the Potter Warburg & Dominguez Barry Partners in Australia.
  • Director of Macquarie Goodman Group (Top 50 ASX listed company).  Market capitalisation grew from <$2 billion to over $6 billion whilst a director.  Played an integral role in the stapling of the Management Company and the Trust.

Executive Director: Anthony Kahn

Anthony was with Macquarie Bank for 18½ years to July 2004. After 7½ years, Anthony was appointed to the senior level, that of Executive Director. Over the last nine years, Anthony led the establishment of Macquarie’s Investment Banking Group’s (IBG) business in New York. He then returned to Australia to head up the Infrastructure and Specialised Funds (ISF) business which grew from $500 million to over $12 billion of infrastructure investments globally during his tenure. Concurrently, while managing ISF, Anthony was CEO of the Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG) which is a top 30 ASX listed stock. The stock provided investors with well over 20% annual return during the period Anthony was CEO.

Non-Executive Director: Mike Hawker

Mr Michael Hawker was appointed Chief Executive Officer of IAG in December 2001. Before joining IAG, Mr Hawker was Group Executive, Business and Consumer Banking at Westpac Banking Corporation. Previous positions include Executive Director of Citibank International PLC in Europe and Deputy Managing Director of Citibank Limited in Australia. Mr Hawker was listed by Euromoney as one of the top 50 bankers under the age of 40. He was awarded the Australian Banking & Finance Magazine Banker of the Year Award in 2000, and the Best Insurance Executive Award in 2003 and 2004. He is a recipient of an Australian Sports Medal, having played 25 Rugby Union Internationals for the Australian Wallabies.

Mr Hawker is President of the Insurance Council of Australia; Member of the Financial Sector Advisory Council; Member of the Business Council of Australia; Member of the Business Roundtable for Sustainable Development; and Member of the Australian Business and Arts Foundation (AbaF); and Advisory Board Member for the Police Commission of NSW. He was previously Chairman of the Australian Financial Markets Association.
