SAGM was established for the purpose of leveraging its management expertise through securing long term management arrangements, acquiring interests in and incubating businesses in growth industries.

Over the past two and half years since inception SAGM has undertaken the following:

  1. Invested into early stage incubation investments that have the potential to develop into growth platforms.
  2. Acquired an interest in and secured a long term management agreement with Saltbush Parking Services (SPS), a growth and consolidation opportunity platform. SPS provides integrated on-street parking and infringement solutions for municipalities, police departments, universities and hospitals.

Investment Team

The SAGM Management Team has the requisite skills and experience in a number of areas to originate, structure, support and grow business platforms. Many expansion stage businesses encounter a common set of challenges in order to pursue and execute growth initiatives.  Often these businesses cannot afford to attract people or retain people who can execute their growth plans. SAGM management will provide its investee companies with the following expertise. At a high level these include:

  • Reviewing, structuring, mentoring and recruiting quality management teams.
  • Implementing cultural change from small to established businesses.

Patrick Allaway

- Joint Chief Executive Officer

Previous Roles include:

  • Managing Director, SBC Warburg (now UBS) Capital Markets & Treasury.  Responsible for a business unit with 3,000 personnel located in 16 countries and a budget in excess of US$1 billion. Transformed the business from a decentralized organization focused on servicing Swiss clients, returning less than 10% on capital to a leading global functionally run investment bank serving the top 1,000 global corporations and institutional investors and generating a return of 60% on capital. Increased profitability by 300% in four years.  
  • Member of SBC Warburg Global Investment Bank Executive Board.  Played an integral role in the integration of O’Connor Partners and the buy out of the Potter Warburg & Dominguez Barry Partners in Australia.
  • Director of Macquarie Goodman Group (Top 50 ASX listed company).  Market capitalisation grew from <$2 billion to over $6 billion whilst a director.  Played an integral role in the stapling of the Management Company and the Trust.

Anthony Kahn

- Joint Chief Executive Officer

Previous roles include:

  • Setting up and running the Investment Banking business for Macquarie Bank in New Zealand and then the United States of America. Returned to Australia from the USA to become Head of Macquarie Bank’s Infrastructure and Specialist Funds Division.  Built this business from equity under management of $300 million to $12 billion over 5 years. This involved executing a number of often complex acquisitions, raising capital (debt and equity) to help finance the acquisitions and their subsequent growth, developing and executing value enhancement strategies, recruiting and mentoring management teams, establishing strategies to grow the investee businesses and the restructuring of businesses and their assets.

Andrew Boustred

- Director

Previous Roles include:

  • Executive in Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank’s leveraged buyout division (a leading South African investment bank). Active investment and management role of portfolio of leveraged investments. 
  • Executive Director of Partnership Investments a South African specialist private equity investor.  Responsible for running investment process and managing investment portfolio.
  • Joined Brait Private Equity one of South Africa premier private equity firms with at that stage ~A$800 million of FUM.  Moved to Australia to represent Brait in private equity joint venture with Ord Minette.
  • Director Goldman Sachs JB Were Private Equity.      
  • In these private equity focused roles gained experience of entire investment process.  Investor director on numerous investee company Boards. Has worked closely with senior management to help drive the value of companies.
